Copyright and takedown policy
Last updated: 2026-07-20
FluentSong respects copyright. If you own rights in a work and believe it is being used here without authorisation, we will act on a proper notice, and we would rather hear from you directly than through a dispute.
What FluentSong does and does not host
We do not host, store or distribute audio or video files. Videos play through the official YouTube IFrame Player, from YouTube’s servers.
Songs are added by visitors pasting a YouTube link. For each one we store subtitle text obtained from that video or from a public lyrics database, aligned to the recording’s timings, together with translations and commentary we generate ourselves. Copyright in the underlying lyrics and compositions belongs to the respective rights holders, and nothing here transfers or claims any interest in them.
How to request a takedown
Email [email protected] with the subject line Copyright notice. To let us act quickly, please include:
- The work concerned: title, artist, and the publisher or rights holder you represent.
- The FluentSong URL or URLs where it appears.
- Your contact details, and your relationship to the rights holder.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law, and that the information in your notice is accurate.
We aim to respond within 5 business days and to remove or disable access to properly notified material promptly. A rights holder who prefers their whole catalogue excluded can tell us so in one message; we do not require a URL-by-URL list for that.
Counter-notice
If your submission was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, write to the same address with the material concerned, your contact details, and a statement explaining the basis for reinstating it. We will pass a counter-notice to the complaining party.
Repeat infringers
We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly submit material that is removed following a valid copyright notice. Because songs are submitted by URL, we also block the specific videos concerned from being submitted again, by anyone.
Reporting other problems
For anything that is not a copyright question — a broken song, a wrong translation, a privacy request — use the feedback button on any page or write to [email protected].
