Meaning

Questa canzone crea un’atmosfera strana, nomade e quasi allucinata: più che raccontare una storia lineare, mette insieme immagini sparse di città, caos, desiderio e vita quotidiana. Il ritornello "Mondo bongo" suggerisce un mondo confuso e un po’ ironico, dove però c’è anche bellezza improvvisa, come nel verso sul fiore tra i capelli. Il tono è sarcastico ma anche affascinato, tipico di Joe Strummer: sembra osservare il mondo con distacco, ma anche con una certa tenerezza verso chi ci vive dentro. Per un italiano è interessante perché mescola parole vicine all’italiano/allo spagnolo con frasi inglesi colloquiali, creando un effetto cosmopolita e disordinato.
