Meaning

La canzone parla di rimpianto, nostalgia e del desiderio impossibile di tornare a un momento in cui una relazione era ancora intatta. La voce narrante sente di aver “perso” progressivamente l’altra persona: prima l’ha avuta tutta, poi solo in parte, e infine più nulla, e questo crea un tono molto triste e malinconico. L’immagine del “ghost of you” rende bene l’idea di un amore che continua a vivere come presenza mentale, un ricordo che perseguita. In generale, il brano esprime il dolore di chi vorrebbe cambiare il passato per capire come andare avanti nel presente.
