FluentSong is a language-learning service that lets you study YouTube songs with synced lyrics, translation, and AI analysis. By using the service you agree to these terms.

What we provide

We embed YouTube videos via the official YouTube IFrame Player. We do not host or distribute audio or video files. Lyrics shown in the player are auto-generated from YouTube subtitles or transcribed from audio for educational use; copyright in the underlying lyrics belongs to the respective rights holders.

Pricing and plans

Listening to, reading and studying any song already in FluentSong is free for everyone, with no account required. What is limited is creating new lessons, because that is what costs us to produce:

• Without an account, you can add one new song a month, drawn from a shared daily pool that also caps how many the whole site can create in a day.
• With a free account, you get a one-time allowance (currently 2 songs and 5 line explanations in total, not per month), independent of that shared pool, and can study in your own language. It does not reset. Reading and listening to everything already on the site stays free and unlimited once it is spent.
• Pro is a paid subscription (currently $4.99/month or $39/year) that raises those limits (currently 10 songs and 200 explanations a month), and unlocks generating translations in any supported language. Billing and cancellation are handled by Stripe; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.

These allowances are fair-use limits that we may adjust over time. If we change them we will keep the pricing page current; any change will not remove lessons you have already generated.

What you are submitting

When you paste a YouTube link you are asking us to prepare a study page for a song you want to learn from, for your own personal, educational use. By submitting a link you confirm that you believe in good faith that doing so is lawful where you are, and you agree not to use FluentSong to obtain material you know you are not entitled to see.

FluentSong does not grant you any rights in the songs themselves. Lyrics and compositions belong to their rights holders. What we license to you, for personal use, is the material we create: the translations, the meaning and grammar notes, the artist context and the synchronised study interface. Rights holders can have material removed, or an entire catalogue excluded going forward, through our takedown request form.

Acceptable use

Use FluentSong to study songs, not as a source of text to take elsewhere. Specifically, don't:

• copy, scrape or extract lyrics, translations or analyses in bulk, whether by hand or with automated tools, and don't build a dataset, index or competing service from them;
• redistribute or republish the content of these pages, including on another site, in an app, or in training data;
• use automated means to access the service beyond ordinary browsing, or circumvent rate limits, quotas or access controls;
• interfere with the service or with other users, or misrepresent who you are when contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate access for any of the above, and we terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly submit material removed following a valid copyright notice.

What we don't carry

Anyone can add a song, so this is worth stating plainly: FluentSong does not carry songs whose purpose is hatred towards a group of people, meaning songs that attack, dehumanise or call for the removal of people because of their nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender or disability. We check submissions automatically and we also remove such songs when we find them, without needing anyone to complain first.

This is a narrow rule and it is meant to stay narrow. Songs that describe, mourn, criticise or protest racism, war or oppression are not what it is aimed at, and neither are songs that are merely violent, profane or provocative. If a song of yours was refused and you think that was a mistake, write to [email protected] and a person will look at it. To report a song that is already on the site, the same address works.

Account, AI and data

Accounts and sign-in are handled by Better Auth (email/password or Google). Payments, if you subscribe to Pro, are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. AI features (translation, song analysis, lyric lookup, artist bio) are powered by OpenAI. Data you submit (URLs, language preferences) may be sent to OpenAI for the purpose of generating lyrics, translations and analysis.

Liability

The service is provided "as is" with no warranties. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or incidental damages. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory consumer law where you live.

Governing law

FluentSong is operated from Italy, and these terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and this clause does not remove that right.
