Lyrics scroll in time with the song. Click any line to jump back and replay it 3 seconds before, until the phrase clicks.
Side-by-side translation, line-aligned, written by AI in the language you actually think in.
Tap Explain on any line for the meaning, the grammar, and how it fits the song. Plus artist bio and cultural context.
Paste a YouTube song URL. We pull the captions (or transcribe the audio with Whisper if none exist), then OpenAI cleans the lyrics, translates them line by line, rates the difficulty (CEFR A1-C2), and writes the song's meaning and artist context. You watch the video with karaoke-synced lyrics and translation side by side.
31 learning languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Greek, Arabic, Hindi, Persian, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. The songs themselves can be sung in any language; translations are generated into the language you choose.
Listening to, reading and studying any song already on FluentSong is free for everyone, with no account and no credit card. What has limits is creating new lessons, because that is the AI work that costs us: without an account you can add a couple of songs a day from a shared pool; a free account gives you your own guaranteed song each day plus explanations; and Pro ($4.99/month) raises those limits and unlocks translations into any of the 31 languages.
No, FluentSong runs entirely in the browser. It is also installable as a Progressive Web App on mobile for an app-like home-screen experience without going through any app store.
Songs are short, repetitive, emotional, and packed with idiomatic language native speakers actually use. The melody anchors the words in memory; studies show music dramatically improves vocabulary retention compared to flashcards.
FluentSong looks for the lyrics elsewhere: another upload of the same song that does have captions, and official synced lyrics from LRCLIB matched to the recording. Most songs work even when YouTube's own captions are missing. If no source has usable lyrics for a particular upload, we say so honestly and suggest another upload rather than showing a broken page.
